Description

The river Ticino flows from the Alps towards the South to the palm trees on the shore of Lago Maggiore. Departing from the Piansecco Hut, hikers arrive at this river’s source and origin, beneath the Nufenen Pass.

Four-source path

The hut and the source area are both located on the fourth stage of the Four-source path. This stage runs across the Nufenen Pass, through the Ägene Valley into Valais to Ulrichen/Obergesteln. The Nufenen Pass is a highlight of this day’s hike in the twofold sense, as it is also the highest point of this stage.

The Piansecco Hut can be accessed by the Postauto shuttle or a hike departing from Airolo.
