Spellbinding Alpine Passes291 bridges, 91 tunnels, 8 hours.
A journey by the world’s slowest fast train from St Moritz to Zermatt is a fantastic experience during a journey through the Swiss Alps.
Andermatt is located right in the middle of the route and is ideally suited as an intermediate stop (with or without overnight stay).
In eight hours, the panoramic train conveys its passengers from St Moritz via Andermatt to Zermatt or vice versa. The Glacier Express crosses 291 bridges and travels through 91 tunnels along the way.
Thanks to extra-large windows, the panoramic carriages offer an unrestricted view of craggy steep rock faces, untouched forests and deep gorges. The train ride also leads past delightful plains, bizarre rock formations and crystal-clear mountain lakes. The Glacier Express stops in numerous mountain villages full of charm and Swiss flair – in Andermatt too. Stepping off board is rewarding!
The Glacier Express runs throughout the year.
Note: Tickets and timetables can be found or ordered on the Glacier Express website.
